Tiny (The story of a leopard cub that died in my hands)

Tiny (The story of a leopard cub that died in my hands)

It was a cold morning of 29 of January, 2010, when, in the restaurant, Mr. Tariq and a Housekeeping (contractual) staff came and brought with them a dust pan with two three jute sacks enveloping a cub of leopard that was found in the Institute premises.

Every one (students), including me, came in to see what they have brought to the restaurant which is in the pan????

Then Mr. Tariq answered the much awaited question that there’s a leopard cub in the pan and please do not touch it.....

We all gathered to have a look at the wild cat and were mesmerised by the first glance at it.... oh! He’s so cute and looks as if ill....

“But, where did you find him??” was my question and Tariq replied” inside the Institute, near the stairs”.

“Have you informed the wildlife people??” I asked, and he called some people and they told to keep a check on him and keep him away from crowd as he might be suffering from some illness....

We laid him down in the bar counter on jute sacks near the blower so that he could get some warmth from the bone chilling weather of Kufri.

We fed him milk with spoons and after sipping two- three spoons of milk he locked his mouth as if not willing to be fed by strangers and waiting for the mother to come and feed him...poor baby!!!!

We waited for the Forest Officers to come and rescue him so that he may be in the right hands, and in the mean time kept brushing his furry golden yellowish coat full of black stripes, so that, he may gather some conscious and again stand on his feet.

Now the Forest Officers came in to the rescue and we took a sigh of relief as if his parents have arrived....

After the thorough check up sad news ran in the air.......................
Oh boy!!!! He’s no more.....
The entire senior faculty members who were there urged the forest staff to re-check so that he may live as if it was a human baby and we were trying to save him but they informed that he’s no more and nothing can be done.....

We were sad and thought Gosh!!! If he could have lived a few more minutes they would have saved his life......
But God had to take him back as he was his son and proper care has to be taken so that he never feels loneliness...........

After a few minutes even God up there couldn’t save his tears from rolling down and it started raining, lightning and clouds bulleting hail on earth as if asking why couldn’t you keep this “TINY” alive in your enormous forest reaches?????????
